SBA Testing Continues

Teachers, SBA Testing continues this week with Humanities SBA.  Please remind students to be mindful of testing environments and to ensure that computers are charged and ready to go for testing.  Additionally, here are some notes from Marshall:

  1. Remind students that they should focus on doing their best on each test that they take.
  2. Please monitor and encourage all students to conserve battery power on their Chromebooks.
    • If your students do not have an educational need for the use of their Chromebook please have them put them away.
      • If you are able to defer use in non-testing classrooms, please do so.
    • If student devices are not fully charged, encourage students to charge them in your classroom when not in use.
  3. Remind students that they will need to bring their headphones and chargers for testingeach day.
    • Students who need earbuds will receive them in their testing rooms.
  4. Encourage students to refrain from disrupting testing environments during passing times.
  5. Please remember to have students silence cell phones, e-readers, and smart watches and place all their belongings in a location that is not accessible to them during testing.  Students may have a book under their chair to read when they complete the test.
  6. We have seen a large amount of students in the hallway during 5th period of testing…students are undoubtedly experiencing their limits with testing/fatigue, but please be mindful of sending students in the hallway and remind students to be expedient.

Reminder: Complete Panorama Survey

Below you will find links to this year’s panorama surveys – these surveys focus on gathering the feedback/perception of staff. I value the feedback and use this results when planning for next year.  In addition to collecting feedback from staff, I will also be receiving feedback from students and families (a link will be mailed to families).

For Frontier staff, there are two links below, one for certificated staff members and one for classified staff members.  Please be sure that you click the correct link – and thank you for taking the time to provide me with this feedback!!!

Frontier needs a 100% completion rate, so please complete this survey – the window closes on Friday, June 1st.

Thanks for all that you do!

Evergreen School District Community Tour – Thursday

On Thursday, 5/24, Evergreen Public Schools will host its final Community Tour.  These tours are set up for anyone in our community who would like to to get a look at our schools in action.  Sometimes these are prospective families, business owners, retirees, and feel educators within the district.

The tour participants will begin their journey at Frontier Middle School, followed by York Elementary, Heritage High School and concluding with a lunch at Cascadia Technical Academy (Formerly the Clark County Skills Center).

Visitors will be led by our student body reps and will be visiting classrooms from 8:30 – 9:30.  Do not fear, they will not disturb our testing classrooms, Humanities teachers.

PBIS Tiered Fidelity Inventory – Friday, 5/25

On Friday, Rafaela Steen and Casey Lyons district PBIS coordinators and Mari Meador from NWPBIS will be in the building completing a Tiered Fidelity Inventory to assess our PBIS system. They will be walking around asking random students and staff questions. They may pop into classrooms just to observe.  This is in response to our efforts to improve the structure and function of our PBIS system at Frontier.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

District Art Show Highlights!

On Friday, Frontier was (once again) well represented in the district art show at Firstenburg Community Center.  Winning pieces included the Superintendent’s Award, going to FMS 6th grader Katie Nguyen!
